Development of major Sunshine Coast tourist attraction and resort complex receives green light

The Sunshine Coast’s latest Major Tourist attraction and Resort Complex, Invigorate Resort by Sanad Capital, has received council approval with early site works expected to commence as early as late 2020.

Offering a mixture of more than 160 self-contained family-friendly villas, local farm to table experiences, wellness centre, open-air cinema, sports club, indoor gaming arcade & play area, swimming pools for all ages, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, plus Actventure, Australia’s largest resort waterpark, Invigorate’s Integrated Tourism Resort Complex is anticipated to attract well over 200,000 visitors per year once operational.

Sanad Capital Managing Director Mr Bradley P. Sutherland said, “the benefits of Invigorate Resort will be multi-layered. Not only will we be able to offer Australian travellers an exhilarating and refreshing holiday experience, the development will go a long way to help stimulate the local Sunshine Coast economy now and into the future.”

“What started as a vision to reconnect families with our incredible Australian outdoor lifestyle, is quickly becoming a reality and we’re thrilled to have officially received the green light from government to deliver a lifestyle and tourism hub like nothing Australia has ever seen before.”

Construction of the 14-hectare complex is set to commence in the coming months, with stage one expected to open to the public in 2023. It is anticipated Sanad Capital’s $65 million project will support the development of 300 construction jobs over the next two years and inject approximately $41 million into the Sunshine Coast economy over the same period.

  • Currently 15% of those aged 15-24 on the Sunshine Coast are unemployed

  • Benefit of the development on Sunshine Coast unemployment rate due to creation of 200 ongoing FTE jobs.

  • Opportunity for the region to benefit from an increase in local, interstate, and international tourism and the subsequent (and sustained) economic growth

  • Potential to note bid for 2032 Olympic Games

The approval comes as Sanad Capital announced it would enlist the skills of WhiteWater the global leader in waterpark design and manufacture to create Actventure, to deliver a state-of-the-art  Endless Surf pool for Stage 2 of the project. The first of its kind in Australia, Actventure’ s Endless Surf pool will harness WhiteWater’s proprietary design and technology to create every surfers dream, controllable powerful waves on command. Endless Surf delivers efficient reliable 2 to 7 foot waves every 10 seconds for every skill level, offering the most flexibility and variety on the market so the beginner and expert can surf simultaneously.

Endless Surf President and CEO, Geoff Chutter, said

“WhiteWater made its first surf pool in 1989 which still operates today. With Endless Surf we’ve developed on that technology creating customizable ocean quality waves on demand – this will move the sport of surfing forward and there will be an Endless Surf pool in Paris in time for the Olympics.”

Having made more wave pools in the world than anyone else WhiteWater’s team of landscape architects, aquatic engineers and dedicated surfers are positioned to bring surf to the world freeing the sport from the proximity to the ocean.

Once fully operational, the locally developed Actventure Waterpark and Invigorate Resort Complex is expected to bring an additional 85,000 overnight visitors to the Sunshine Coast and generate flow-on benefits in the order of $24 million per annum to the local economy.
