ACTVENTURE Set To Encompass Queensland's Largest Eco Family Leisure Resort

Queensland Tourism Minister the Honourable Kate Jones briefed on updated vision for the $37m Sunshine Coast accommodation development


Developer Sanad Capital, on Thursday November 1st met with Queensland’s Tourism Minister the Honourable Kate Jones to review progress of the ACTVENTURE Resort development on the Sunshine Coast’s Steve Irwin Way.


Sanad Capital are in advanced discussions with key Australian operators for the rollout of the family friendly ACTVENTURE Resort, which is currently being designed and is earmarked to include a mix of 250 eco villas and glamping tents, all day family restaurant, heathy café & spa, APX next generation Waterpark, Wave Oz, adult and family pools, slides, and sports activities. The Resort will calculate a significant contribution to the Sunshine Coast’s economy, adding much needed rooms to the accommodation pool and providing hundreds of new jobs.


Minister Jones tweeted on October 25th “Tourism is driving the QLD economy - worth $25bn and supporting 1 in every 10 jobs”.

Tourist resorts contribute $20.5b to the Australian economy and provide more than 25,000 jobs. Sunshine Coast visitor numbers continue to soar, with international visitors increasing 3% for the year ending June 2018. Confidence in the Sunshine Coast is at an all-time high, with Shakespeare Property Group’s recent $100m investment in the Novotel Twin Waters and their announcement of a new $8m Convention Centre at the Hotel.


Queensland State Government have provided funding for major infrastructure upgrades such as the Bruce Highway Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway upgrade to 6 lanes ($930m) and Bruce Highway Caboolture to Caloundra upgrade to 6 lanes ($2b). Further, the Sunshine Coast Airport upgrade ($347m) is well underway, with international flights set to take off from Christmas 2020. The Airport saw record Winter tourism numbers, with passenger numbers increasing by 11% from June to August, and the first month of Spring seeing a 7% increase when compared to 2017 figures.


Chief Executive Mr Bradley P. Sutherland said, “With the new road upgrades and new infrastructure works and the game changing international Airport in full swing and coming on board in just 24 months, we decided to implement much needed accommodation offerings with an Eco Resort at ACTVENTURE in the 1st stage, which we are creating to meet the growing holiday market demand and current trend”.


Sanad Capital expects to lodge the Development Application for the ACTVENTURE Resort and finalise discussions with potential operators in the coming weeks.
